The Chris Wilson Foundation: Discussion Group Facilitator

Seeking Discussion Group Facilitator for Prison Education Nonprofit

3 hours/week for 13 weeks $50/hour

The Chris Wilson Foundation is seeking confident, self-assured, and passionate individuals to lead group discussions in prisons and detention centers in the following locations: Baltimore City and Baltimore County, MD, the Capital District Region in NY, and Camden and Middlesex Counties in NJ. This role is a part of our “Master Plan Program.” The program’s goal is to promote resilience and autonomy in the incarcerated individual and to strengthen the life skills of those planning for reentry. The program contains a 13-week curriculum based on Chris Wilson’s book, The Master Plan: My Journey from a Life in Prison to a Life of Purpose.

Facilitators will be trained in restorative justice and anti-racist group facilitation and dialogue methods by CWF staff and will work virtually with a group of other facilitators to develop best practices for individual facilities and students. During group discussion sessions, facilitators will work in pairs to aid students in discussing trauma, resilience, personal relationships, goal-setting, and reentry planning.

Applicants should be confident in their communication skills, comfortable working in a prison facility setting, and interested in working with youth. We are only seeking applicants who are formerly incarcerated or justice-impacted. We believe that facilitators of this program should have the same lived experience as our students and should be considered experts in the field of prison education, reentry, and reform.
