In the spring of 2020, the Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project created The Warbler, a newsletter designed to be engaging and accessible to people with a variety of interests and backgrounds. Since then, APAEP has distributed nearly 100 issues to every correctional facility in Alabama as well as contacts throughout the US and beyond. Each week, The Warbler focuses on a new theme and includes related articles, poetry, puzzles, art, and more. They put every issue together with the intention of offering information, humor, and hope.

They send out a PDF of the week’s issue every Wednesday at 11:00am CST; they freely encourage you to make it available to anyone whom you believe would benefit from receiving it.

With this recent surge of COVID-19, we know it will bring uncertainties, delays, and decreased access for our friends and students inside. If The Warbler can help in some way, however small, to remind your people that they are remembered, and that they are loved, please use it.
