Join the National Assoc. of Higher Education Systems (NASH) to discuss their recent report, which included insights from interviews with system leaders, higher education in prison (HEP) administrators, and justice-impacted students across 18 states. This research focuses on how public higher education systems organize and advance higher education in prison programs and reentry services for justice-impacted learners.

The first in-person Inside-Out instructor training institute since 2020 will take place in Chicago this summer, to be co-hosted by DePaul Univ.. Training will entail comprehensive, interactive sessions that cover pedagogical, logistical, ethical, and other aspects of college instruction in carceral settings. Parts of three of the days will take place at Cook County DOC and otherwise, will meet on DePaul’s campus and parter facilities.
BaseCamp is an annual summit that serves administration, staff, allies, and faculty practitioners holistically through reflective approaches to serving students and self-care; and to directly address oppressive systems of racism, colonialism, and punitive practices in higher education. We do this through community knowledge labs, horizontal learning, support of peers, and critical self-reflection to develop efficacious programs.

The Incarcerated Scholars Conference (ISC) is an annual, virtual academic conference that centers the voices of currently incarcerated scholars, graduates, and artists. ISC 2026 will take place virtually on October 28–29, 2026, around the theme, Learning in Motion. It will feature presentations by incarcerated scholars, including real-time Q&As with virtual attendees; a curated expressive arts showcase; and a unique platform for dialogue.
