You're invited to join the third session of an ongoing Public Philosophy Group, Re-Imagining Re-Entry, a space primarily for ex-incarcerated individuals (and some other prison educators) to share personal exploration, intellectual inquiry, and mutual support.
On MONDAY SEPTEMBER 25th @ 6:30 EST, please join the next session, on RECIPROCITY AND MUTUAL AID.
With some readings as inspiration and life experience to steer us, this session will give participants the chance to explore when, how and especially why we help each other, what difference it can make, and what our responsibilities are to each other. When is helping each other a form of resistance, and how come?
Who and what do you feel obligated to, and on what grounds? From where you sit, what do we owe to one another, to the natural world, to our families, communities, to future generations, to our own species and others? How can this shape our work in the world?
Co-moderators of the Sept 25th meeting are Rachel Fayter and Simone Davis
We're both longtime members of the Walls to Bridges Collective.
If you'd like to take part in the Reciprocity and Mutual Aid conversation, please shoot me an email at simonedavis1@gmail.com and we will send you the readings and the Zoom link for our September 25th gathering. Your thoughts welcome! And if you can't make it to this one but would like to learn about upcoming sessions, just let me know.
If there's someone you know who you think would appreciate participating, please do share this invite, most especially with formerly incarcerated folks who care about education and community-- and an especially warm invite to folks who are recently out, who might be glad of the community.
In respect and care,
Simone
