The Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project is looking for a Community Education Coordinator (CEC) to facilitate educational and art programming at state correctional facilities. The CEC works closely with APAEP staff to create spaces for learning and creativity for students across Alabama. This full-time position assists in program development, provides instructor and student support, maintains professional relationships with community partners, and keeps diligent records. A successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, passionate, and works well in strictly regimented environments. System-impacted candidates are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be based at our Birmingham office, but candidates based near our Auburn offices will be considered as well. The work involves regular travel and sometimes atypical hours.
