Boston College Prison Education Program: Program Assistant

The Boston College Prison Education Program seeks a full-time Program Assistant to support the program in its mission to provide on-site, degree-bearing higher education courses at the medium-security state prison in Shirley, MA. The Program Assistant will work closely with the Program Director in scheduling and supporting coursework and programming at the prison. The position requires frequent coordination and communication with incarcerated students, the Program Director, Boston College faculty and administration, as well as the Department of Corrections administration and staff.

Salary

$39,900 to $49,850

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with comparable work experience;
  • the ability to respond with sensitivity to multiple stakeholders;
  • superb organizational and time management skills;
  • experience working with incarcerated or at-risk populations, and/or a strong commitment to providing educational opportunities to incarcerated students.
  • Candidates must have a car and be willing do periodic site visits to the prison;
  • collaborate with incarcerated students both in prison and upon reentry; and
  • have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, administrative, and collaborative skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
