Northwest Florida State College: Coordinator, Construction-Corrections Program

Job Description:

The individual filling this position is expected to play a positive role in helping the College change as necessary to effectively carry out its mission. Stay up-to-date with professional trends in the Construction field and help facilitate the continual change that may be required to keep the program current and relevant. This position is an at-will employment position and is expressly contingent upon the existence and renewal of the Florida Department of Corrections and Northwest Florida State College. Salary: $44,047 - $70,529

Contractual Responsibilities:

  • Provide services directly to adult students incarcerated in the Santa Rosa County Corrections facility.
  • Work with the Manager to conduct program planning necessary to coordinate, implement, and achieve program objectives, adjusting as necessary to ensure success of enrolled students.
  • Maintains stringent reporting documentation and timelines.
  • Complete all the required Santa Rosa County Corrections training activities.
  • Work closely with NWFSC Skilled Trades Program Director with industry trends and material needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program and course curriculum, including learning assessments that directly align with industry demands.
  • Teach courses appropriate to level of expertise and actively recruit subject matter experts as adjunct instructors for courses outside of scope of understanding.
  • Provide classroom and hands-on training to students in order to acquire an HBI Certification.
  • Must have the ability to participate in accurate budget planning, management and effectively operate within the approved budget.
  • Maintains responsibility, accountability and inventory control for equipment and supplies for the department.
  • As a part of the college's risk management tool, annual mandatory compliance training is required.
  • Perform other duties as may be appropriately assigned to achieve the overall accomplishments of the program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with three (3) years of documented experience in construction trades or associate's degree from an accredited institution with seven (7) years of documented experience in construction trades or a High School Diploma with ten (10) years of documented experience in construction trades.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, computer experience with Microsoft office or comparable software applications.
  • Must be proactive, creative, and innovative.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to act independently with minimum supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Qualifications Five (5) years' experience owning or managing a construction business.
  • Active Certified, General Contractor License.
  • Experience teaching at a high school, vocational, post-secondary, or corrections facility.
