Responsible for executing procedures and functions in support of the Prison Education program. Serves as the primary liaison between our partner correctional facilities and the College.

Major Responsibilities
This position is responsible for executing all processes and procedures inherent to the Prison Education program. This position will be the primary on-site presence at partner correctional facilities. Frequent travel between the facilities and College will be required.
- Collaborate with appropriate college and Correctional Facility personnel to support the recruitment, matriculation, financial aid, registration and graduation process.
- Provide support to college faculty teaching in the program.
- Execute all processes that ensure students have materials necessary for success (books, school supplies, etc.).
- Track Prison Education student academic progress and connect them to appropriate services.
- Develop and implement programs to support student success including Study Center, College Advisory Board (CAB), tutoring, academic advising, etc.
- Monitor the J-Pay secure messaging system Second Chance account, responding to messages in a timely manner.
- Provide timely feedback to College and Correctional Facility administration to drive program effectiveness.
- Serve as Lead Volunteer for Second Chance programs, ensuring all SUNY Adirondack personnel working directly with incarcerated students achieve and maintain NYSDOCCS Volunteer status.
- Coordinates all program events such as recruitment sessions and graduation ceremony.
- Prepare reports and complete special assignments, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Counseling, academic advising and/or general student services experience in a higher education setting.
- An individual who possesses a high level of energy, professionalism, enthusiasm.
- Ability to travel with a valid NYS driver’s license with clean record.
- Flexible schedule including evening/weekend work throughout the calendar year.
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational, management, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to effectively utilize College databases and provide reports. Excellent work ethic.
- Previous experience in prison education preferred, but not required.
- Must be cleared as a DOCCS Volunteer and maintain this status.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- 3-4 years of experience.
