Job Description

Program Manager, LIFTED Department: HMCT / Interdisciplinary Humanities Center Division: Academic Affairs Summary of Job Details: Established in the Fall of 2022, LIFTED (Leveraging Inspiring Futures through Educational Degrees) is a program to establish University of California B.A. degree opportunities for incarcerated Californians who have completed A.A. degrees for transfer to a UC campus. Under the direction of the UCSB LIFTED Faculty Director, the Program Manager applies professional student services concepts to provide assistance to individuals incarcerated in California State Prison, Corcoran (CSP-COR), going through the transfer process into UC Santa Barbara. This is a Career position with an end date. Current funding allows for position from July 1, 2026 - June 30th, 2029; however, the role may continue past the initial pilot stage with funding availability.

Essential Duties

This role involves a wide range of student services duties and responsibilities. This involves working closely with the students at the California State Prison, Corcoran (CSP-COR), and involves time working with students at the facility. Duties include managing professional and student staff, providing faculty and student trainings, maintaining relationships with the prison, and collaborating on central policymaking. Responsibilities include oversight of all program processes and procedures, involving campus and UC policies, as well as California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) rules and regulations that have an impact beyond the unit. Travels regularly to California State Prison, Corcoran (CSP-COR) to work with the students who are enrolled in the program and the faculty to teach the courses for the program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Clearance from Prison to access education site within 60 Days Special Conditions of Employment
  • Required to hold a valid driver's license
  • Have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • Satisfactory criminal history background check
