College of Southern Nevada: Program Manager, Prison Education

Job Description

The Program Manager coordinates all activities for the CSN Prison Education Program. The Program Manager works with the CSN AVP of Academic Affairs, leaders from the Nevada Department of Corrections and nonprofit organizations in southern Nevada to implement, monitor and continuously improve the academic programming offered by CSN to the inmates/students who are housed at High Desert State Prison, Southern Desert Correctional Center, and Florence McClure Women’s Prison.

Additional responsibilities include working with leaders from CSN Academic, Division of Workforce Education Development and Student Services departments to ensure all prison related educational programming is implemented appropriately. This manager is also responsible for the tracking of student success data including academic information, demographics, post-release employment, etc. The Program Manager is expected to monitor an annual operating budget making budgetary and expenditure recommendations to the AVP of Academic Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-4 years of closely related professional experience, to include personnel, program, and budgetary experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • 5 years’ experience working with incarcerated populations.

The duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Make decisions and take actions independently for a variety of diverse situations.
  • Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Current knowledge of ADA-AA, Section 504 of Rehab Act. Knowledge of FERPA rules, Federal Financial Aid Title IV regulations.
  • Ability to understand and apply NSHE and college policies and procedures, recognize and address challenges affecting college students, effectively apply case management practices, and follow-up appropriately.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff, lead a team, solve problems, and maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with a team of co-workers, CSN leadership and personnel from other state and local agencies.

Starting Salary Range

Administrative Faculty

The starting salary is $67,256.
