Florida Justice Center: Operations Assistant

This position assists with day-to-day operational duties, organizing events, and working to further the mission of the Florida Justice Center. The candidate for this position will learn all aspects of the organization and assist with interdepartmental tasks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all client communications
  • Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed in a timely manner
  • Monitor compliance with laws and regulations
  • Assist with various organizational tasks as delegated and assigned by their supervisor
  • Facilitate interdepartmental and interagency collaboration
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects all differences
  • Organize community legal clinics and other work-related events
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partner organizations and stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and conflicts
  • Some travel may occasionally be required

Qualifications

  • This is an entry-level position
  • Must be able to work at our office in Oakland Park and travel throughout the state
  • Must be able to quickly learn new technologies and processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • No previous legal experience needed
  • Strong motivation to create positive individual and systemic change
  • Interest in learning new skills and having career progression
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees
  • Ability to come up with unique solutions to problems
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Valid driver license and reliable car a strong plus, but not required
  • Hiring preference for people who are formerly incarcerated / people with lived experience in the justice system
