Hudson Link: New Beginnings Coordinator

Role Summary

Hudson Link is seeking a candidate for a full-time New Beginnings Coordinator. The New Beginnings Coordinator will serve Hudson Link alumni participating in New Beginnings, Hudson Link’s transitional supportive housing program in Ossining, NY. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and professional individual who is capable–through education and lived experience–of providing a supportive and positive environment for adults living in transitional housing after returning from recent incarceration. The New Beginnings Coordinator will support the administrative work of our transitional housing program, including managing the application process, communicating with DOCCS and parole staff to ensure a seamless transition for residents, and working with residents to ensure expectations are clearly communicated and reinforced as needed. Responsibilities may also include supervising MSW and BSW interns as needed.

The New Beginnings Coordinator will report to the Director of Transitional Services. The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with a requirement of flexibility in working evenings and weekends as necessary.

What You Will Do

Programmatic Support (60%)

  • Lead the process of resident screening and selection for the New Beginnings housing program.
  • Design and implement informational sessions and draft informational materials about New Beginnings to Hudson Link students who are currently incarcerated.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments of new applicants for New Beginnings.
  • Ensure that all accepted residents receive a thorough onboarding and review of all New Beginnings policies and procedures.
  • Uphold New Beginnings policies and procedures, including working with the Director of Transitional Services to issue written warnings and program dismissals as needed.
  • Work with DOCCS staff as needed to support residents in completing any parole mandated programs.
  • Assess and edit New Beginnings policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Transitional Services, as needed.

Direct Service (20%)

  • Host monthly all-resident Community Meetings, and other group meetings as necessary.
  • Participate in resident goal review meetings and case conferences as needed.
  • Document participants’ progress to maintain a permanent record of case activity according to established methods and procedures.

Resource and Network Building (20%)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with allied human service agencies and organizations, including parole, to improve alumni access to services, including mental health services and medical care.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations (government, faith, charitable, etc.) to create community services opportunities for New Beginnings residents.
  • Develop organizational ties to other resources that may be needed by alumni and New Beginnings residents.
  • Supervise Hudson Link interns on specific projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Represent Hudson Link to external parties including but not limited to other members of the Higher Education in Prison community, current and potential funders, DOCCS staff, partner organizations and colleges, etc., as needed.

Who You Are

  • Master’s in Social Work preferred; Bachelor’s degree in a human services, social work, psychology, sociology, human development, or other related social science field required. SIFI certification a plus, but not required.
  • At least three years of experience working with adults who have been formerly incarcerated or have been involved in the criminal justice system. (Preferred)
  • Must have experience interpreting/interacting with biopsychosocial reports.
  • Familiar with evidence-based processes and practice, and trauma-informed service delivery.
  • Strong communicator, compassionate relationship-builder, and critical thinker who displays strong judgment, time management skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to engage with residents.
  • Must have experience with service documentation databases such as Salesforce or ETO.
  • Beliefs regarding corrections and rehabilitation aligned with the mission of Hudson Link.

What You Can Expect

  • Starting Salary of $55,000 – $65,000 commensurate with experience
