Prisons and Justice Initiative: Community Resource Manager

The Community Resource Manager, in a role funded by the US District Court of the District of Columbia, provides reentry support and supervision to approximately 500 pretrial and post-conviction returning citizens.

The CRM supports the unique needs of all PJI programs:

They provide intensive support to individuals who are on pretrial release, probation, or supervised release in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, while building a database of resources and providing relevant referrals for admission for PJI’s reentry programs.

As well, they work closely with the Pretrial Services Agency (PSA) for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Probation Office (USPO) to identify supervisees who can benefit from additional services offered by community-based agencies, non-profit organizations, and others.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the PJI Staff Social Worker, the Community Resource Manager works closely with Director of Reentry Services, the Program Managers for the Paralegal and Pivot Programs, and the Director of Education.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or related field OR substantial (3-5 years) experience in the reentry/criminal justice system
  • An understanding of the federal criminal justice system, including PSA, USPO, and reentry and diversion programs
  • Knowledge of reentry and local community resources
  • Familiarity with confidentiality requirements that apply to federal offenders and ethical rules that apply to the federal judiciary
  • Ability to pass applicable background checks, including by the Court.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrated success in establishing trust and building and maintaining relationships
  • A high degree of personal integrity and ethics, in particular toward respecting the confidential and sensitive nature of each individual’s reentry efforts
