I never thought I'd be sober and happy in prison.
I used to scoff that "they'd never take me alive".
Little did I understand my disease of addiction had a plan,
I'm proof in this submission that "Paths of Possibility" took up for Divine Providences
while I breathe my peaceable pace.
I was usually a rebel and had a death wish to fight my fate.
My sanctions of prison from the judge in which now I thank.
My usual routine of " If I don't plan it not a dammed thing could go wrong."
To a daily To Do List with accomplishments recorded and kept.
My creativity is nurtured and ambitious goals paved on this road and life quest.
I promise to share my story as a street walker vet.
The options in my past were failing and inept I have broken the chains of addiction and surrender and threats.
I was another statistic. A poly substance street walking girl living dismal in Cleveland, Ohio. Sleeping wherever I could lay my head. The bus stop was my general all terrain Haven. I was given a real chance at recovery by the prison bus ride hours away from "home". I cut ties with all my past using buddies and have a working relationship with my supportive Mom! I realize how smart I am and capable with a shot at community college and excel in prison programs at DCI, in Dayton, Ohio. I depart here the end of this year with a real change of heart and yearnings to help my fellow homeless in the 216.
