Who the artist is: Prince Lewis is from South Philadelphia. He enjoys art and loves to help people understand what life is about through his paintings. He has never taken an art class but has created some amazing works, often using vibrant colors. Many depict the complexities and the struggles of street life.

What the artist made: Using acrylic paints, I created a piece of a baby crawling out of a dungeon/cell into Paradise.

Why the artist made it: I created this painting to show my current state of mind in a “new beginning.” I see my painting as symbolic of a person getting a new lease on life. Even when I think of me coming from the streets and facing adversity, I also think of coming to jail, signing up for Eastern University classes, and graduating, which is my new beginning.
