People write poems to delight the mind
but, I must indulge to survive
Enticing some lines, inclined to
find the right rhyme
is equally required as my spine.
Soon there’s a tune
to impugn any swoon,
I swear it’s no ruse, but a rune.
Locked in this room, with my thoughts
since that June,
Anyone else would be doomed.
Finding the words that deserve
to be heard, is like binding
injured with the cure.
My mind was a blur
before designing allure,
my motif
became my own lure.
I came across poetry during a rough time in my incarceration. Ever since I started to write I have found a new motivation that I never had before. Every day is a gift now and an opportunity to become a better poet. So "My Why" explains why it is that I write.
