I can't believe how close we are, while yet still being so far.
Being so near helps me to hear the sound of your voice before I made that choice.
I can still see you wiggle and hear your giggle as I would tickle your toes, or bop you on your nose.
I'll always remember your little boy scent from that day I was sent away by the judge.
I pray you don't hold any type of grudge;
I know I made a lot of mistakes, but I will do whatever it takes to prove to you that my love has always been true.
If there's days you're feeling down and out, know that without a doubt in my heart you've always been and you'll always be.
When the day comes for me to be free, its you I'll come looking for, so I can show you that I've loved you since before.
I've been in prison for almost 7 years. I just came back to county for a resentencing hearing and this is the closest I've been to my son since I left. He's now 13 and I haven't heard his voice or seen his face since he was 6. He is my world and I wrote this to let him know, I never forgot or abandoned him.
